Bachelor Theses

We are pleased that you are interested in writing a thesis at the Chair of Sustainable Development and Change. Below you will find some information that you should consider.

What we offer:

  • Questions from the areas of sustainable digital change
  • To support the preparation of the bachelor thesis, an accompanying bachelor colloquium is offered during the semester (Wednesday 8:00 - 10:00 am)

What we expect:

  • Empirical work with own data collection and evaluation
Topics summer semester 2025

In the summer semester 2025, theses on the following topics will be awarded.

  • Topic area A: Sustainable consumption
    Consumer preferences for sustainable fashion: Investigation of the importance of sustainability dimensions on willingness to pay (conjoint analysis).  
  • Topic area B
    AI and social sustainability - How do personality variables, attitudes towards AI and AI literacy influence trust in AI-generated output? (online survey)  
  • Topic area C
    AI and social sustainability - (how) does artificial intelligence influence cooperative behavior in social dilemma situations? (experiment) 

Registration for Bachelor theses is done centrally via an ILIAS survey (see also https://wiso.uni-hohenheim.de/en/abschlussarbeiten). Please note the registration deadlines.

If you have any questions, please contact Lilli Frank. If you would like to work on your own topic, we need a written exposé describing your project on 2 pages before the start of the semester.

Master Theses

If you are considering writing a master's thesis at our department, please note the following things.

What we offer: 

  • Diverse, exciting questions from the fields of human-computer interaction, sustainability motivation, digitalization and sustainability, and artificial intelligence
  • Departmental colloquium that gradually introduces you to writing a thesis
  • Possibility to write the thesis in German or English
  • Transparency
  • Support with questions regarding the statistical analysis of data

What we expect:

  • Empirical work (qualitative or quantitative) with own data collection and analysis
  • Participation in department colloquium
  • Adherence to the Open Science principles
  • Research questions that fit the profile of the chair

Possible topics: Please take a look at the publications and research projects of the chair and see which research gaps you can identify.

Since supervising master theses requires a lot of effort and our chair capacities are limited, we would like to ask you to include the following application documents (as a single PDF file). Please send them at the latest by the end of lectures of the semester before the planned start of your thesis (semester dates University of Hohenheim).

Application documents:

  • A short cover letter
    - in which you state your motivation
    - present your research idea (if you are not applying for an advertised master thesis)
    - and discuss why their idea fits the profile of the chair
    - The cover letter should be 2 pages max.

  • Your resume in tabular form (max. 1 page)
